THE STORY: Just over one month ago, the VAS Open Elite Team had it's first Open Practice/tryout. This team is for High School graduates and the team ranges in age from 18 to 26. On Fri, July 22nd 17 athletes and 2 Coaches from this newly formed team packed their cars for the road trip of their lives. The team left at 5am and travelled 9 hours to a Banff Hostel where we stayed in College dorm-like bunk-bedded rooms. The three day training camp left the old'er' bodies a bit worn out, battered and bruised but the journey was incredible; the team not only won The Top Collegiate Team Award but also took home 2nd place in group stunt (Lara Chalmers, Victoria Brooks, Jaya Panwar and Lauren Chu. In the tumbling competition, we took 1st place (Shauna Terry) - 2nd Place (Victoria Brooks) and 3rd Place (Karey Akai). Our team had 5 All Canadian Recipients: Katie Morrison, Kristy Powell, Karey Akai, Victoria Brooks and Shanua Terry.

You'll notice a lot of pictures that show the team NOT doing cheer... hmmm... yes, that's because the team is an OPEN team and truly enjoyed themselves while dancing and taking beautiful scenic pictures while in Banffffff....

So... One Flag is for "Most Collegiate Award"... What's the other one for???

OH YAH... The team captures the FIRST EVER Poloroid Award. Why?
